#### INSTRUCTIONS ####

-- Files needed to retrieve results (all in the same working directory): 

1. "eLife_script.R" : main script (open in R or Rstudio)

2. "extract_maps.R" : secondary script to create covariates maps, will be called by the main script

3. "mask_FC.Rdata" : mask of Amazonia with forest cover > 80% (for clipping maps)

4. "recruits_model.stan" & "survivors_model.stan" : stan models that will be called by the main script

5. from the Dryad repository (doi:10.5061/dryad.rc279) :  "Primary metadata.xlsx" , "sites_info.xlsx", "plot_info.xlsx" 
(to be converted into .csv files before opening with R)
